One of Australia's Leading Federal Government departments are looking to engage an experienced Unix/Linux Infrastructure Engineer to play a vital role managing Midrange Unix Infrastructure. You will also be responsible for mentoring Junior Engineers and working with application teams to understand business needs with a focus on Automation to introduce efficiency and innovation. The role can be based in Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide with remote work also available. The successful Unix/Linux Infrastructure Engineer will be offered a 12 month contract with 2 X 12 month extension options.   

The successful Unix/Linux Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to: 

• Evaluating and assisting in the ongoing support of ISM compliance Midrange Unix platforms
• Participating in Incident Response and Problem Management activities
• Supporting Security Monitoring and implementing improvements
• Collaborating with other teams across the division to assess, plan and implement Infrastructure improvements and upgrades

The successful Unix/Linux Infrastructure Engineer will have experience in the following:

• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Unix and Solaris
• Understanding and knowledge of business continuity requirements as well as plans and solutions to support them
• Experience with Oracle and Ansible Automation Platforms
• Ability to support formal change management processes
