A prominent Federal Government Department is seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join the Classified Systems Delivery (CSD) Platforms Team within its ICT Division. This high-impact role supports critical VMware environments across the Australian Secret Network (ASN) and Customs Secret Network (CSN)—essential systems that underpin secure communications and operations across the Australian Government. The successful Senior Infrastructure Engineer will play a key role in maintaining, optimising, and uplifting VMware infrastructure to improve reliability, security, and performance in a classified environment. This role offers a long-term engagement through to June 2026 with potential 2 x 12-month extensions, working full-time on-site in Canberra.

The successful Senior Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Manage, support, and design VMware server and desktop (Horizon) environments across ASN, CSN, and ABF vessel systems.
• Deliver patching, upgrades, and infrastructure improvements to enhance system performance, availability, and security.
• Develop and maintain documentation including technical specifications, designs, SOPs, and Security Impact Assessments (SIAs).
• Mentor APS and contractor staff, contributing to cross-skilling and uplift of departmental technical capability.

To be successful, the Senior Infrastructure Engineer will demonstrate:

• Extensive hands-on experience across the VMware product suite (vSphere, ESXi, Horizon) with strong design and implementation skills.
• Proven ability to deliver infrastructure improvements and automation solutions in complex or classified ICT environments.
• Ability to work effectively in high-security environments and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of availability management, IT infrastructure, and systems design (SFIA L4–L5) principles.
