A leading Federal Government department is seeking both a Senior and Junior Python Developer to join their AI Engineering team. This is a unique opportunity to work on advanced machine learning and data-driven projects, developing Python-based applications that support high-impact national initiatives. The successful candidates will collaborate with data scientists and engineers to optimise AI models and deliver scalable production systems. The Python Developers will be offered an initial 12-month contract with a 12-month extension, open to candidates in VIC, with onsite working arrangements.

The successful Python Developers will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Designing, building, and optimising Python-based AI and ML applications in production environments.
• Developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, APIs, and data integration frameworks.
• Collaborating with data scientists to train, fine-tune, and evaluate ML models using frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Hugging Face.
• Implementing data preprocessing, transformation, and model deployment solutions in secure environments.

To be successful, the Python Developers will demonstrate:

• Proven experience in Python software development, including API design, CI/CD, and version control (Git, GitLab, or GitHub).
• Strong understanding of machine learning principles, including neural networks, transformers, and model evaluation metrics.
• Practical experience with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Ultralytics, and familiarity with MLOps tools (MLflow, W&B).
