A prominent Federal Government agency is seeking an experienced Cloud Security Architect (Lead Cyber Security Architect) to join their ICT Division and drive security architecture for critical Whole-of-Government programs. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape secure cloud solutions and contribute to the adoption of cutting-edge AI technologies across the Australian Public Service.

The successful Cloud Security Architect will lead the security design and delivery for GovAI, a generative AI initiative, and other high-profile projects. You will provide architectural guidance, risk assessments, and hands-on engineering support to ensure robust security across Microsoft Azure, AWS, and other platforms. This role offers an initial 12-month contract with 3 x 6-month extensions, based in ACT with flexible hybrid work arrangements available.

The successful Cloud Security Architect will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Design and implement secure IT solutions in line with Australian Government standards (ISM, PSPF).
  • Review and assess architectures, identify security gaps, and develop remediation plans.
  • Advise on integration of cloud services, networks, identity & access management solutions.
  • Implement and configure security tools, monitor compliance, and draft Threat & Risk Assessments.
  • Manage vendor engagements for IRAP assessments, penetration testing, and security reviews.

To be successful, the Cloud Security Architect will demonstrate:

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure services and cloud architecture; AWS experience desirable.
  • Proven experience implementing security measures and controls in cloud environments.
  • Understanding of compliance standards (ISM, PSPF) and security by design principles.
  • Experience managing IRAP processes and working with multiple vendors.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills; Australian Citizenship required for Baseline clearance.
