A prominent Federal Government department is seeking multiple Senior Vulnerability Assessors (Security Specialists / Security Engineers) to join their cyber security and investigative teams. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to Australia’s national security posture by identifying, assessing and prioritising cyber threat vulnerabilities across high-value government systems. Working across high-profile security initiatives, the successful candidates will strengthen security architecture, enhance risk awareness, and conduct forensically-sound investigations into a wide range of ICT assets and devices. Opportunities are available in ACT, QLD, and VIC, with onsite work required based on operational needs.

The successful Senior Vulnerability Assessors will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Conduct forensically sound security investigations across ICT assets, assessing and communicating threat profiles while providing expert guidance to uplift cyber security posture and reduce organisational risk.
  • Undertake penetration testing activities, evaluating vulnerabilities, defensive gaps, and mitigation controls, and reviewing systems for actual or potential security weaknesses.
  • Interpret and apply ICT security policies, legislation, and whole-of-government security frameworks, supporting the implementation of effective security controls.
  • Apply both predictive (plan-driven) and adaptive (agile) design methodologies, and design, test, verify, document, and refactor complex scripts and programs as required.

To be successful, the Senior GovCMS Developer will demonstrate:

  • Strong background in threat intelligence, threat modelling and cyber threat assessment, with proven penetration testing experience and the ability to analyse vulnerabilities and mitigation effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated capability producing high-quality executive or business reporting on security assessments, along with solid knowledge of ICT security policies, governance frameworks, and relevant digital-security legislation.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary security and technical teams, with CREST certification (Penetration Tester or Threat Intelligence Analyst) highly regarded.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to Australia’s cyber defence capability while working with a highly skilled security team. Successful applicants will secure a 12-month contract with two 12-month extensions (up to 36 months total) and play a meaningful role in safeguarding critical government systems.
