A High-profile Federal Government department is looking to engage an experienced Cyber Security Specialist to lead and conduct risk assessments of the department’s internal systems and assess risk from external connections. The successful Cyber Security Specialist will be offered an initial 12-month contract with the view to extend for a further 12 months, flexible hybrid work arrangements and open to candidates across ACT, NSW, VIC or QLD.

The successful Cyber Security Specialist will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Lead and conduct risk assessments of internal systems and external connections, investigating and reporting control failures and gaps.
  • Undertake compliance activities aligned with cyber security standards, including PSPF, ISM, and Agency Risk Management Frameworks.
  • Develop IT security standards, policies, procedures, and controls to manage and mitigate technology risks.
  • Implement initiatives focused on reducing technology risk and ensuring governance and regulatory compliance.
  • Support business areas by ensuring stakeholders address relevant compliance standards and incident management disciplines.

The successful Chief Architect/ Enterprise Architect will have experience in the following:

  • Minimum five years of experience with Australian Government governance concepts, focusing on ICT, policy and standards development, framework documentation, and executive-level reporting.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written channels across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Skilled in mentoring team members and providing subject matter expertise within collaborative environments.
  • Confidently engages with internal and external stakeholders to support strategic and operational objectives.
  • Experienced in developing and maintaining ICT policies, standards, and governance frameworks aligned with government requirements.
