A high-profile Federal Government agency is seeking an experienced Lead Remediation Cyber Security Specialist to play a key role in strengthening organisational resilience across complex IT and OT environments. This position involves guiding stakeholders through remediation processes, interpreting cyber uplift reports, and implementing recommended security improvements in alignment with industry frameworks and best practices. This is a 12-month contract with 2 × 12-month extension options.

The successful Lead Remediation Cyber Security Specialist will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Provide expert remediation support by addressing findings from cyber uplift or assessment reports.
• Evaluate existing security controls against frameworks such as ASD Essential Eight, CIS CSC, and NIST SP 800-53.
• Assess technical control effectiveness across Active Directory, Endpoint Security, and Network Security.
• Interpret vulnerability and compliance scan results, identify gaps, and advise on practical remediation steps.
• Conduct workshops and briefings to communicate risks and remediation pathways to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The Lead Remediation Cyber Security Specialist will have experiences in the following:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in cyber security roles with a strong grasp of core principles (confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, non-repudiation).
• Proven ability to assess, advise, and implement security controls aligned with industry frameworks (ASD Essential Eight, NIST, CIS CSC).
• Demonstrated experience leading security uplift initiatives, including vulnerability scanning and compliance tool integration.
• Ability to balance technical detail with strategic oversight, supported by strong problem-solving skills and continuous improvement mindset.
• Excellent communication skills for facilitating workshops and engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
