A Federal Government department is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to support a major transformation program focused on modernising systems and delivering enterprise-level ICT solutions. This role offers a 3-month contract with a 3-month extension option, based in Canberra, Sydney or Melbourne under a hybrid work arrangement.

The successful Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Perform comprehensive business analysis – Elicit, document, and validate requirements while investigating current processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
• Engage stakeholders effectively – Facilitate workshops, manage communications, and ensure alignment between business needs and technical solutions.
• Develop and translate technical deliverables – Create functional specifications, process maps, user stories, and UI designs that meet accessibility standards and project objectives.
• Plan and oversee project execution – Prepare detailed project plans covering scope, timelines, resources, and risk mitigation strategies; support testing, UAT, and implementation activities.
• Collaborate and ensure quality outcomes – Work closely with system developers and ICT providers to deliver solutions that meet requirements, assess system performance, and maintain documentation and training materials.

The successful Senior Business Analyst will have experience in the following:

• Proven ability to apply analytical techniques and tools to assess and categorise data, including mapping business services and applications to underlying technology components.
• Skilled in conveying complex problems and evidence-based analysis to stakeholders through well-structured verbal, written, and visual documentation of current and future state environments.
• Demonstrated experience in managing diverse stakeholders and independently conducting discovery workshops across business, application, and technology domains.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, architects, subject matter experts, and outsourced ICT providers, to achieve project objectives.
• Familiarity with cloud-based data solutions and platforms, complemented by strong technical writing skills to produce clear, detailed documentation for broad stakeholder audiences.
