We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to join a high-performing Federal Government agency. The successful Data Architect will lead the design and development of data architecture foundations for a major digital initiative, supporting improved data exchange, governance, quality and interoperability across a complex multi-agency environment. The successful Data Architect will secure an initial 6-month contract with a 6-month extension option, based in Canberra

The Data Architect will be responsible for but not limited to:

• Designing conceptual and logical data models, schemas and data dictionaries
• Translating business and regulatory requirements into structured data architecture artefacts
• Mapping data elements, reporting forms, data flows and transformation rules
• Supporting reference data, metadata, lineage, data quality and governance arrangements
• Advising on structured data exchange, XML, validation rules and integration patterns
• Engaging with technical, business and policy stakeholders to validate and endorse deliverables

The Data Architect will have experience in the following:

• Demonstrated experience in data modelling and schema design for complex domains
• Experience developing data reference models, data sets, mapping specifications and metadata
• Strong understanding of data governance, quality management, lineage and traceability
• Experience with structured data exchange formats and integration approaches
• Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills
• SQL experience is highly regarded, with Python, R, Power BI or Tableau beneficial
