One of Australia’s leading Federal Government Departments is looking to engage an experienced Java Developer to join their multidisciplinary team. The successful Java Developer will be developing software, integrating Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and Government Off the Shelf (GOTS) software, documenting technical processes and assisting with testing and deployment. The successful Java Developer will secure an initial contract until July 2026 with the view to be extended for 12 months with a receive a rewarding hourly rate.

The successful Java Developer will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Designs, codes, tests, corrects, and documents complex programs and scripts from agreed specifications, and subsequent iterations.
• Recommends/designs structures and tools for systems which meet business needs and considers target environment, performance & security requirements, and existing systems.
• Delivers technical visualisation of proposed applications for approval by customer and execution by system developers.
• Maps work to user specification and removes errors and deviations from specification to achieve user-friendly processes.

The successful Java Developer will have experience in the following:

• Proven experience in development languages/frameworks such as Python, Java, Java Messaging Service, JavaScript, J2EE.
• Demonstrable experience with Puppet, Ansible and Docker automation tools.
• Strong commitment to software engineering processes and a proven ability to develop robust and maintainable software.
• A proven ability to document technical processes.
