A high-profile Federal Government department is looking to engage an experienced Digital Accessibility Specialist/Digital Accessibility Advisor to support the design and development of accessible digital products and systems. The successful Digital Accessibility Specialist/Digital Accessibility Advisor will be offered an initial 12-month contract with the view to extended for a further 12 months and receive a rewarding hourly rate.

The successful Digital Accessibility Specialist/Digital Accessibility Advisor will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Developing prototypes using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or front-end frameworks to evaluate accessibility concepts
• Supporting researchers, designers, and developers throughout the product lifecycle to ensure accessibility is embedded from the start
• Reviewing prototypes and identifying accessibility issues in collaboration with designers
• Providing expert advice on user behaviour, assistive technologies, and accessibility best practices

The successful Digital Accessibility Specialist/Digital Accessibility Advisor will have experience in the following:

• Demonstrated experience in multi-disciplinary teams delivering accessibility-related outputs
• In-depth understanding of WCAG guidelines, interaction and content design principles, and assistive technologies
• Knowledge of how people with disability use digital products and systems, and the functional impacts of impairment
• Basic skills with and knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript or common front-end frameworks or libraries.
