A high-profile Federal Government department is looking to engage an experienced OpenStack Infrastructure Engineer to join an established team. You will manage end-to-end architectural design, procurement, and operational management of our private cloud platform.  The successful OpenStack Infrastructure Engineer will be offered an initial 12-month contract with the view to extended for a further 24 months and receive a rewarding hourly rate.

The successful OpenStack Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Lead the design and expansion of OpenStack and Ceph clusters, including rack layouts, power requirements, and hardware placement strategies.
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process for server hardware, ensuring specifications meet platform performance requirements.
  • Design and implement software defined networking configurations for cloud platforms, ensuring secure and efficient traffic flow.
  • Provide high level technical advice to internal stakeholders regarding cloud capacity planning, performance tuning, and disaster recovery strategies.

The successful OpenStack Infrastructure Engineer will have experience in the following:

  • Extensive experience in the administration, configuration, and troubleshooting of OpenStack services in a large-scale production environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and troubleshoot complex networking layouts, including VLANs, and software defined networking (SDN) within a cloud environment.
  • Strong technical skills in managing enterprise Linux distributions (preferably RHEL), including automated deployment package management, and system configuration.
  • A track record of acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to resolve complex infrastructure incidents and provide technical guidance on platform stability.
