We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Engineer to join a high-performing Federal Government team working across enterprise data and analytics platforms. The successful Lead Data Engineer will design, develop and test complex data movement, transformation and visualisation solutions, leveraging modern cloud technologies including Azure and Databricks to support operational analytics and decision-making. The role is based in the ACT with hybrid arrangements.

The successful Lead Data Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Designing, building and maintaining automated data ingestion and transformation solutions
• Developing and maintaining ETL/ELT patterns and frameworks across complex enterprise data environments
• Supporting project teams and data engineers through quality reviews, technical guidance and constructive feedback
• Delivering data solutions aligned to broader program, divisional and departmental priorities 

The successful Lead Data Engineer will have experience in the following:

• Strong experience developing ETL/ELT processes for complex or large-scale data movement and transformation
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SQL Server, Data Lake Storage and cloud analytics services
• Experience preparing data for cloud-based analytics using technologies such as Spark, Azure SQL, Parquet and Delta
• Strong experience across cloud engineering, storage and analytics services, with knowledge of Data Lakes and Lakehouses highly regarded
