We are seeking Systems Administrator/ Data Engineer to join a high-performing Federal Government Department. The successful Systems Administrator/ Data Engineer will be responsible for the design, deployment and operational management of containerised data processing environments and applications. The Systems Administrator/ Data Engineer will also be responsible for managing, transforming and operationalising data for use by business areas. The successful Systems Administrator/ Data Engineer will secure an initial 12-month contract with the view to be extended for 2 years and receive a rewarding hourly rate.

The Systems Administrator/ Data Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to;

• Designing, implementing, and optimising Kubernetes-based environments to host and scale applications.
• Planning, implementing, and maintaining data engineering solutions in SQL and Python.
• Building and maintaining robust data ingestion and processing flows, ensuring data integrity and system stability.
• Fusing data sources using various data pre-processing techniques such as transformation, integration, normalisation, and feature extraction to create useful data structures.
• Developing and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation, deployment blueprints, and operational playbooks
• Identifying bottlenecks in manual processes and deliver automated solutions using Python and Ansible to improve operational efficiency.

The Systems Administrator/ Data Engineer will have experience in the following:

• 3+ years of relevant System Administrator, DevOps, Data Engineering / Data Warehousing experience
• Experience implementing DevOps practices, including the creation and maintenance of Cl/CD pipelines.
• Strong experience in the deployment, configuration, and management of Kubernetes (K8s) clusters and containerised workloads.
• Ability to develop, deploy and maintain scalable data engineering solutions in SQL and Python.
• Proficiency in Linux system administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning and with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Python
• Scripting and programming capabilities, primarily in Python.
