A leading Federal Government Department is seeking 2 x experienced Lead Communications Managers to lead and manage reporting and communications activities for the AI Program—a whole-of-government initiative accelerating the adoption of generative AI across the Australian Public Service. This high-impact role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge projects that shape the future of government services.

The successful Lead Communications Managers will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

• Coordinating, drafting, and editing program performance reports.
• Preparing briefs, talking points, and submissions for executive and ministerial audiences.
• Developing and maintaining reporting frameworks, processes, and templates.
• Authoring and editing content for internal and external communication channels.
• Liaising with stakeholders to gather and synthesise information on milestones, risks, and outcomes.
• Drafting responses to formal inquiries (QoNs, Senate Estimates, FOI requests).
• Interpreting and communicating project data for diverse audiences.

The successful Lead Communications Managers must have experience in the following:

• Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Translating complex technical detail into clear, persuasive narratives.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail and evidence-based reporting.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence engaging with senior stakeholders.
• Experience in government communications and PowerBI (desirable).
