One of Australia’s leading Federal Government agencies is looking to engage an experienced Senior Data Administrator / Data Manager to administer, optimise, automate, and support critical database environments across Linux-based enterprise systems. This exciting role sits within a high-profile national security organisation and offers a long-term contract with lucrative hourly rates $.

The successful Senior Data Administrator / Data Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Administering and maintaining a range of complex databases including Oracle and MongoDB.
• Automating system administrative tasks using Linux shell scripting and related tools.
• Building, configuring, integrating, and sustaining database instances, pluggable databases, shards, and Data Guard environments.
• Troubleshooting database incidents through alert logs, system logs, performance statistics, and diagnostic tools.
• Managing backup/restore processes including Flashback, restore points, and Commvault operations.
• Implementing database patches, maintenance routines, and security compliance activities.
• Monitoring performance and system software metrics to ensure maximum availability and efficiency.

The successful Senior Data Administrator / Data Manager will have experience in the following:

• Strong Linux administration skills, including shell scripting and crontab automation.
• Oracle PL/SQL, PDB creation, auditing, scheduler, and patching.
• Oracle Data Guard setup and troubleshooting.
• Oracle Exadata architecture, EMCC job configuration, and performance tuning.
• MongoDB administration, including shards and Ops Manager.
• Backup and recovery frameworks including Commvault.
• Security configuration such as account creation, privilege management, and wallet/key administration.
• Desirable programming skills in Java, Python, or Perl.
