A Federal Government Department is seeking an experienced Lead Cyber Security Architect to design, assure and guide secure technology architectures across complex digital platforms supporting critical public services. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for ensuring systems are secure by design, aligned with Australian Government cyber security frameworks, and resilient against emerging threats. The successful candidate will work across enterprise programs with a strong focus on governance, assurance and architectural oversight. The Lead Cyber Security Architect will be offered an initial 12-month contract with a 12-month extension, open to candidates in QLD, WA, ACT, VIC, NSW, NT, SA & TAS, with flexible hybrid work arrangements available.
The successful Lead Cyber Security Architect will be responsible for, but not limited to:
• Develop and document cyber security architectures aligned to ISM, PSPF and Essential Eight controls
• Review architecture and design artefacts to ensure alignment with security policies, standards and best practice
• Identify and highlight cyber security deficiencies across complex ICT ecosystems
• Provide expert guidance to Architects, Designers and senior stakeholders on secure solution design
• Support system authorisation and assurance activities, including contributions to IRAP assessments
• Assess impacts of evolving Government cyber security policies on existing and future systems
• Contribute to cyber security policy development and adhere to APS governance and architecture standards
To be successful, the Lead Cyber Security Architect will demonstrate:
• Proven experience delivering cyber security architecture within complex ICT environments
• Deep knowledge of Australian Government cyber security frameworks (ISM, PSPF, Essential Eight)
• Experience supporting system authorisation, accreditation and assurance processes including IRAP
• Strong capability designing and assessing security controls across cloud, on-premises and hybrid environments
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, advisory and executive communication skills
• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline
