Canberra-based role – Federal Government laboratory environment!
We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join a high-profile Federal Government Agency within an innovative, leading Federal Government Department. Working in the Biomaterials & Engineering Section, this role will support scientific and engineering-based laboratory testing activities that help ensure medical devices and therapeutic goods are safe, reliable and fit for purpose.
This opportunity offers an initial 12-month contract, with extension options of up to 18 months, based in Canberra in a highly respected regulatory laboratory environment.
The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Conducting laboratory testing and analysing scientific and/or engineering data relating to medical devices
Supporting technical investigations using a risk-based regulatory approach
Contributing to testing plans, project proposals and laboratory documentation
Developing and reviewing testing methods, SOPs, spreadsheets and instrument programs
Calibrating and testing laboratory instruments, identifying faults and documenting findings
Preparing short technical reports outlining results and recommendations
Monitoring laboratory inventory to ensure effective operation of equipment and availability of consumables
Some positions may also involve container safety evaluations for pharmaceutical products.
The Laboratory Technician will have experience in the following:
Qualifications or equivalent experience in Engineering, Science, Technology or laboratory testing
Knowledge of, or ability to learn, quality-controlled laboratory testing practices
Ability to read, interpret and apply scientific or engineering standards
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Experience working within, or exposure to, quality management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 17025 or ISO 13485)
Clear written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting
Experience in regulated, medical device or pharmaceutical environments (highly regarded)
