A leading Australian government agency is seeking Linux Engineers to support mission critical initiatives. The Linux Engineers will be responsible developing and maintaining a highly productive Linux capability and maintain technically complex and novel research system administration practices. The successful candidate will be offered an initial contract until 30 June 2026, with two 12-month extension options.

The successful Linux Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to: 

• Undertaking the deployment, management and maintenance of a range Linux server and desktop infrastructure.
• Managing and monitoring system performance, ensuring high availability and reliability of network services and other critical infrastructure.
• Managing a range of Linux security initiatives and vulnerabilities, security monitoring and responding to security incidents.
• Creating accurate and clear documentation for troubleshooting procedures and system configurations

The successful Linux Engineer will have experience in the following:

• Proficient in virtualisation and cloud technologies, setting up virtual environments using host and guest, and migrating from physical to virtual environments.
• High-level skills and experience in Linux scripting in at least one of: bash, perl, python.
• Strong web interface design skills interfacing to a backend Linux client-server environment.
• Experience in managing Linux systems using Satellite or Landscape.
