A leading Australian government agency is looking to engage Junior Network Engineers to support key networking and cybersecurity projects. The Junior Network Engineers will play a key role in the deployment, management, and maintenance of systems to support secure and reliable network environments. The successful candidate will be offered an initial contract until 30 June 2026, with two 12-month extension options.

The successful Junior Network Engineers will be responsible for, but not limited to: 

• Planning and deploying networking and cybersecurity systems, to optimise the ability to monitor, detect, prevent and quickly respond to cybersecurity threats.
• Working as part of the BAU network operations team to support business-as-usual operations of network infrastructure and network security services
• Providing expert advice and undertaking configuration of networking equipment and systems.
• Working as part of the network modernisation project team to support network segmentation initiatives.

The successful Junior Network Engineer will have experience in the following:

• Experience managing and/or supporting Cisco Routing and switching (NAC and 802.1x)
• Experience or exposure to on premise cloud technologies.
• Proficient in troubleshooting, investigation and reverse engineering of complex and undocumented systems.
• Strong experience configuring firewalls, routing and switching.
