A prominent Federal Government agency is seeking an experienced Lead Cyber Security Analyst to support the protection of a global government network, delivering advanced cyber defence, incident response, and security operations functions. The successful Lead Cyber Security Analyst be offered as an initial 12-month engagement with 2 x 12-month extensions, based on site in Canberra ACT

The Lead Cyber Security Analyst will be responsible for but not limited to;

• Develop and operationalise log sources and detection use cases across new systems.
• Monitor, tune, and improve cyber security systems and defensive tooling.
• Lead analysis of security events to identify anomalies and recommend improvements.
• Conduct incident response and remediation activities.
• Collaborate with Threat Intelligence teams and contribute to threat hunting.

The Lead Cyber Security Analyst will have experience in the following:

• 3+ years as a Cyber Security Analyst in a SOC or cyber defence environment.
• Proven capability designing and implementing detection use cases.
• Hands-on incident response experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Defender XDR and Defender for Cloud.
• Ability to build automation workflows using Splunk SOAR.
