A leading Federal Government agency is seeking an experienced Lead IT Security Adviser to provide continuous, embedded cyber security expertise. The role will focus on advisory and assurance activities, ensuring the agency’s cyber security practices align with government standards and drive ongoing maturity, uplift, and improvement in cloud and outsourced environments.

The successful Lead IT Security Adviser will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Providing continuous, independent cyber security advice across agency platforms, systems, and services, with a focus on cloud-based and outsourced environments
• Supporting cyber security maturity uplift, including Essential Eight implementation and Zero Trust principles
• Advising on cyber security risk management, including risk identification, assessment, and executive-level risk acceptance
• Providing oversight and assurance of security controls implemented by internal teams and external service providers

The successful Lead IT Security Adviser will have experience in the following:

• Comprehensive knowledge of Australian Government cyber security requirements, including the ISM and PSPF
• Strong experience in cyber security risk management, including NIST, ISO 31000, and ISO 27005
• Understanding of ISO 27001-aligned ISMS concepts for control selection, assurance, and risk-based decision making
•  Demonstrated experience providing senior IT security advisory services in cloud-based and outsourced ICT environments
